The original firm was established in Waitara in 1979 by Graham Armstrong and has continued to steadily attract farming and commercial clients from right around the region ever since. Philip Fleming was appointed director in 2005 and we expanded again in 2008, with the opening of a second office in New Plymouth to better serve our growing number of clients there. So we know what it’s like to start small and build up successfully from a solid base.

Philip Fleming - C.A, Director
Philip formed Armstrong Fleming in 2005, to provide a dynamic accounting service to an existing and emerging client base in Taranaki. Philip completed a National Diploma in Accountancy in 1993 and became a Chartered Accountant in 1996.
Prior to Armstrong Fleming, Philip managed a previous accounting practice in Taranaki and worked as for 13 years specialising in all forms of tax auditing including multi nationals. The knowledge he gained is of great benefit to his clients in providing advice on tax structures and minimisation. Philip really enjoys being able to help businesses grow their assets. Specialising in planning business growth and the purchase of small to medium businesses, he sees clients move through exciting times, driving clients to push for opportunities when timing is right.
Philip is a trustee in the North Taranaki Community House and apart of the Western Institute of Technology’s accountants group for NZQA.
Amy joined our team in Waitara as our office manager in 2016. She has a wide variety of roles managing the day-to-day running of the office, and all client administration. Since then she has started her Accounting Technician studies part time at Witt.
Amy has a wide range of clients from individual tax returns to medium business entities with her focus being in rental properties. Amy has a strong knowledge in technology and systems and works alongside clients to utilise all aspects of modern accounting systems to support our clients.
Patsy came from an administrative background she moved into the accounting field just over 10 years ago when she started at Armstrong Fleming Ltd as an Accounting Technician.
Patsy’s position is very diverse and within our team, covers anything from individual tax returns through to large business entities, the work is incredibly varied and provides a platform for learning multiple areas of accounting. One of her rolls is as the Tax Administrator where she deals with terminal and provisional tax notices and other related areas.
Patsy is a born and breed Waitara girl and is involved with numerous activities in her community.
Judy joined the team at Armstrong Fleming in 2015, she has a passion for numbers and really enjoys working in the field.
She came from a background in accounts and administration working as the Financial Administrator of her church in New Plymouth she has been in this role for 17 years and combines this with working in our Waitara office part-time for 3 days a week.
Through WITT, she gained both her Accounting Technicians Diploma and New Zealand Diploma in Business. Judy works with a range of client entities being rentals, Trusts, Sole traders and small business.
Brendon joined Armstrong Fleming Limited in June 2007 and worked in the Waitara office for three years before moving into a newly established New Plymouth office.
Brendon works mainly on commercial clients ranging from small to medium size businesses where he completes all aspects of annual accounting, taxation and reporting.
Brendon has a keen interest in new technology, including cloud based online accounting programmes such as XERO and MYOB. This is the future in accounting software, and he is always available to help clients with any problems in this area.
Janine joined Armstrong Fleming in 2013 and completed the Accounting Technician Diploma and NZ Diploma in Business Studies in 2017, graduating in 2018.
She works with a varied range of clients from sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts this makes her well-equipped as they all have specific business needs.
Bryan joined the firm in June 2017. He has a background of being in his own Business with several years in the Chartered Accountancy Profession in the Central Taranaki Area.
Bryan works in the New Plymouth office where he specialises mainly in work involved with Review Engagements for Charities, Clubs and Societies. He also has specialised knowledge of Taxation due to being involved in this area for many years.
Bryan particularly enjoys the challenge of working through taxation issues that arise with the Clients in the Practice.
Nicola started with us in 1999 when Graham Armstrong owned the firm, making her our longest serving staff member.
Nicolas 25 years of experience in the accounting industry have made her a specialist in all areas with particular interest in small business and farming.
Nicola works part time in our Waitara office.
Christine joined the Armstrong Fleming team at Waitara in 2007. She brought a range of mixed experience to our firm from business ownership in agriculture contracting and concrete manufacturing, office management in the building industry and dairy farming industry experience.
Christine specialises in rural accounting with a mix of commercial small to medium business owners. She is currently working from the New Plymouth office with clients mostly based in Taranaki, and a few further afield in New Zealand and Australia.
Heidi starting working in her home town of Waitara for Graham Armstrong in 2004 after finishing her studies in Accounting, Business & Marketing. She works with a wide range of commercial clients from trades to hospitality and everything in-between.
Heidi works from our New Plymouth branch, as that is where many of her clients are based. She enjoys working for the clients she has come to know over the years.
