OUR FIRM

The original firm was established in Waitara in 1979 by Graham Armstrong and has continued to steadily attract farming and commercial clients from right around the region ever since. Philip Fleming was appointed director in 2005 and we expanded again in 2008, with the opening of a second office in New Plymouth to better serve our growing number of clients there. So we know what it’s like to start small and build up successfully from a solid base.

Philip Fleming - Director C.A

Philip formed Armstrong Fleming in 2005, to provide a dynamic accounting service to an existing and emerging client base in Taranaki. Philip completed a National Diploma in Accountancy in 1993 and became a Chartered Accountant in 1996. Prior to Armstrong Fleming, Philip managed a previous accounting practice in Taranaki and worked for 13 years specialising in all forms of tax auditing including multi nationals. The knowledge he gained is of great benefit to his clients in providing advice on tax structures and minimisation. Philip really enjoys being able to help businesses grow their assets. Specialising in planning business growth and the purchase of small to medium businesses, he sees clients move through exciting times, driving clients to push for opportunities when timing is right.

Patsy Sampson-Furze

Patsy came from an administrative background, she moved into the accounting field just over 10 years ago when she started at Armstrong Fleming Ltd as an Accounting Technician. Patsy’s position is very diverse within our team, covering anything from individual tax returns through to large business entities. The work is incredibly varied and provides a platform for learning multiple areas of accounting. One of her rolls is as the Tax Administrator where she deals with terminal and provisional tax notices and other related areas. Patsy is a born and bred Waitara girl and is involved with numerous activities in her community.

Janine Willison-Hawkes

Janine joined Armstrong Fleming in 2013 and completed the Accounting Technician Diploma and NZ Diploma in Business Studies graduating in 2018. Janine’s experience working with a diverse range of entities, including sole traders, partnerships, companies, and trusts, makes her well-equipped to handle various financial and business-related matters.

Amy Cruickshank

Amy has been employed at Armstrong Fleming since 2016, where she works with a diverse range of clients, spanning from rental properties to farming and various other sectors. Through part time study Amy completed the elective accounting courses. Amy’s background in administration equips her with valuable skills in technology and systems. In her role, she collaborates closely with clients, assisting them in effectively utilizing the features and capabilities of modern accounting software.

Heidi Stimpson

Heidi starting working in her home town of Waitara for Graham Armstrong in 2004 after finishing her studies in Accounting, Business & Marketing. She works with a wide range of commercial clients from trades to hospitality and everything in-between. Heidi works from our New Plymouth branch, as that is where many of her clients are based. She enjoys working for the clients she has come to know over the years.

Ashlee Cameron

Ashlee is the friendly face at the front desk. She is our admin superstar, the first point of contact for anyone visiting the office or contacting us through phone calls and emails. One of Ashlee’s key roles is to facilitate the smooth functioning of our team of 9 accountants. She provides invaluable support to them, ensuring that they have the resources and assistance they need to deliver fast and efficient services to our clients.

Sue Mower

Sue joined our team in 2023 and has experience in business management, payroll, accounts and administration. Sue values the importance of systems and timely, accurate reporting to assist with profitable business endeavours. She works from the Waitara office and is engaged with ongoing education outside of her commitments with Armstrong Fleming.
